No, No, Nanette

This past week I got the go ahead to put together a production of No, No, Nanette. We were originally going to do a production of Chicago, but the Broadway producers would not give the company the rights. Might we be a threat to their ticket sales? I hardly think so...

Well enter Nanette. It had just played Off Broadway with daytime diva Rosie O'Donnell and Miss Peter Pan herself, Sandy Duncan. The production got all around good reviews and left New Yorkers once again tapping their toes. It also takes place in the 1920's just the same as Chicago. However Nanette is a happy, nostalgic piece of fluff. But grade A fluff. Many great songs, I Want to be Happy and the classic Tea For Two.

I'm also very happy to announce that the Glitterati staff will once again be aiding and abetting...Robert Hilliard will be the production Stage Manager and Tiffany Nasca and Christine Rivera with the Assistant Directors. Shawn Quinlan will once again choreograph and Michael (no relation to Roseanne) will again be the Musical Director.

Auditions are coming soon. Watch the Glitterati page for info.

Yet, another closing...

Die, Mommie, Die! closed this past Friday. In the past year I've been so fortunate to work with so many talented and more importantly nice people. As I mentioned the Gypsy cast was amazing and some have of them and I have become great friends. Last September I worked with the Porchlight Music Theater people and walked away with still more friendships. The DMD cast and crew were no exception. I love my career but when working with such incredible people it makes it that much more special. Shows come and go, open and close but the friendships last forever. I've been so fortunate in the past and look forward to a future filled with even more glitter and glamor, but most of all many, many friendships.

Gypsy

Well, Gypsy has come and gone and I'm happy to say that I'm very proud of that show. It was a hell of a hard show to do, but the team pulled it off beautifully. And our wonderful, wonderful cast. The Universe certainly did a fantastic casting job. Hmmm they should work professionally!

Once in a great while, I'm reminded why I put myself through the trials and tribulations of this business we call show. Several times during Gypsy I was reminded why. Rarely, do I get to work with such strong material and have a cast up to challenge. Night after night I would watch and get chills. I find it hard to believe that I would react this way after being in this business for so many years. Bravo to the most wonderful cast and a standing ovation to the crew!
